A denim jacket for every family member

We're certainly not a family who likes to dress in tandem for a summer Saturday out. My husband is only too happy to leave the workweek suit behind and enjoy a pair of shorts and sandals. One of my sons insists on jeans year-round and the other is impossible to get out of his favorite baseball team t-shirt. Me? I like to think I'm a little more fashion-conscious, which is why I made the decision to pick out denim jackets for the whole family.

Denim is about as versatile as can be, easy to wear year-round and well-matched to any outfit - even a pair of jeans if you plan it out carefully! For my husband I found a well-worn shade, with rolled cuffs and brass-buttoned breast pockets. I'd never inflict matching outfits on my sons, so I've split their shades between an equally washed denim and a deep grey. My own? Since I tend to run a little cold year-round, I got a flannel-lined indigo blue denim.

While my husband is stuck to his sandals, and my kids are always in either cleats or sneakers, I was the only one interested in accessorizing footwear. I ran over to Rack Room Shoes and picked out a pair of Della sandals by BlueFin and am now Saturday day-trip ready.
