Father and son fishing trip, mother and son shopping trip

My husband and I have worked out a very clever system. While he takes one of the boys on a daytrip, I take the other shopping, and then we switch the next weekend. So far it's worked wonderfully. While he and one of the boys spent the whole afternoon at the lake fishing and lounging about by the water, I took my other son around to a few of the outlets and picked up a few polos, a new pair of khakis and some Halyards by Sperry at Rack Room Shoes.

While I'm pretty sure he'd much rather have been fishing with his dad, he was a great sport in the fitting rooms, and it was refreshing to do some bonding. By the time we got home and his brother and dad were back from the lake (sunburnt and jolly), we had a slew of inside jokes and spent most of the evening giggling back and forth.

So next weekend it'll be the same routine, and as much as I'm looking forward to a little shopping (when am I not?!), it'll be just as great to catch up with my other kid.
