My favorite family BBQ outfit

It's not a "Kiss the Chef" apron, that's for sure. We love to barbeque on weekends, and more often than not neighbors and friends filter over and stay for a drink or a hotdog. While it's certainly not going-out social, I also don't want to be caught off guard in a ratty old t-shirt and my gardening shorts. So I have an old standby outfit for these impromptu grilling parties.
First I find a dash of color, usually in the form of a sleeveless blouse - either a soft lime green or flattering violet. If it's a chilly day, I'll throw a cardigan over that. As for bottoms, I almost always wear a crisply pressed pair of capris, but for real swelter I'll wear either my khaki or oxblood red shorts. Of course, I always need a pair of shoes to tie the outfit together. My slip-on pair of Daisy by BlueFin has yet to let me down. The gingham design is quirky and cute, and I can go socks or not, depending on how casual I'm feeling.
By the way, we do in fact have a "Kiss the Chef" apron. But it's my husband's.
