Summer hiking with my lady friends

While my guy friends are just as content to sit around playing Xbox as they are to stop by the bar, my female friends can't seem to sit still. Every time we get together it's built around some sort of activity - including a memorable bungee jumping experience - and this weekend it's going to be hiking.

Luckily this hiking trip seems to be pretty low-key and more about hills than mountains. While I've chosen a rugged plaid button down and pair of khaki shorts for our trip, I was debating between sneakers and boots. In the end, I decided on a happy medium and went to Rack Room Shoes to pick up a pair of Elevation by Highland Creek. These aren't quite boots but have all the traction I'll need for hills or mountains while retaining the snugness of sneakers. And they won't overheat during our epic trek.

Needless to say, I'm excited to hang out with my female friends. It'll be a great change of pace, so long as we don't start planning anything too intense for our next get-together. When they start talking about spelunking, then I'll probably opt out and spend a weekend in with the guys and the Xbox.
